The Jeep Wrangler’s Tuscadero Garners Tens Of Thousands Of Orders for 2022

A new sweet pink hue for the 2021 Jeep Wrangler brought a welcome brightness to the multitudinous shades of black, white, gray, and silver that dominate the exteriors of many of today’s new vehicles. If you see a pink Jeep Wrangler cruising the streets or crawling the Rubicon Trail in the near future, it may not be sporting some aftermarket custom paint job, but rather a straight-from-the-factory exterior color option. Seriously.

The new-for-2021 pink paint for the Jeep Wrangler is called Tuscadero. Tuscadero.  Throw your fist in the air and say it with some passion. (And then Google it to realize that it is probably a reference to a Happy Days character, a female mechanic that the Fonz had feelings for. Go figure.) Since becoming available late summer 2021, Tuscadero has proven so popular that Jeep will keep it around a little longer through ’22. (The brand typically phases special colors in and out, only keeping a core groupe of hues around year-to-year.) Originally set to be orderable through December, the pink paint attracted “nearly 30,000 orders” since August.

We can see why. The chromatic magenta begs to be seen, to stand out, and to be talked about. The bright, rich pink implores us all to lighten up and to not take life so seriously. It’s risky and unapologetically ostentatious, polarizing onlookers into two camps: those that like it, and those that don’t like it. There’s no neutral ground when it comes to colors like Tuscadero.

The Tuscadero color option continues to be orderable across the whole two- and four-door 2021 Jeep Wrangler lineup, including Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, 4xe, and 392 models. This wide availability is of interest because some trims, like the 392, haven’t seen this funky of a color choice. There remains no mention if the Jeep Gladiator pickup or any other Jeeps will receive a similar color from the special magenta palette.

Tuscadero comes with an upcharge of $395. That’s a small price to pay for such a big impact, but more expensive than the $245 premium demanded by any of the Wrangler’s other exterior color choices (besides Bright White).

Jeep says the launch of Tuscadero coincides with the 80th anniversary of the Jeep brand, but we call bologna. Any time is a good time for Tuscadero—because Jeep. Plus, it’s just the newest of several outspokenly loud color offerings (or color names) for the Jeep Wrangler: there’s Snazzberry, Nacho, Hellayella, Hydro Blue, Sarge Green, and Gecko, for example. And the Jeep Wrangler’s main competitor, the Ford Bronco, just revealed a new color as well.

Are you bold enough to rock the Tuscadero?
